So, today I "explored" some food blog horizons by; reading five food blogs, and critiquing them in order to pick the best one. Now, I didn't spin around, do any mini miny Moe games or anything of the sort. Based on my inspections of: the design, layout, functionality, quality of writing, appeal of recipes or topics, and other accessories of the following blogs:
1. "Putting your life at stake With A Meal" Mikael
2. " One hundred," by Anthony bourdain
3. "The One Pie Dough To Rule Them All" by Chez Pim
4."Savory Sesame Cookies", by chocolate & Zucchini
5."Single crust Plum And Apple Pie" from the Smitten Kitchen.
I chose the best one. SO, I have ruled, and I choose (Drum roll):" The One Pie To Rule The Dough", Yes, I rule: The dough!
Now allow me to explain myself: The design is very laid back, but classy, really warm like gourmet chocolate chip cookies (tasty!) The olive green, tan, and white color go well together. The layout is creative/neatly organized, there are catchy titles and sections for everything there. There are very appeasing and felicitous pictures of food that compel you to the blog, or propel you deeper into it. The functionality is fine I mean the website "works". Now to the good stuff; The quality of writing here is, HOT she is motivational,"And do you know what's perfect about it? you can do it too. Yes, you." l have no idea how to make a pie, yet alone the dough. But, after reading this I'm like; man lets go! (I'll still probably fail terribly but at least i was confident in my failure). Chez's tone is refreshing and reliving, when it comes to the past pressures of making a pie-you and mine alike-"... No matter What kind of sordid, tragic past you've had with other pie dough recipes. you can forget it all and start anew with this one." So, if that tone ain't smacking you ALL in yo' face right now then...I don't know what is?
Moving on, she has awesome appeal to the recipe -flaky, buttery, down to the crumbilicious: pie dough-mmm! I can taste it, "It's the dough that won't be over worked, soaked, or stick, burnt, or bitter, or hard to make." (Really the ingredients are so simple)
So in the area of the, "quality of writing", I'd like to point out some other accessories that this blog has that are great(in my opinion): figurative language and literary devices Examples: Diction- she uses the word HUBRIS, to describe the "cure" (for lack of a better term) for past pie doe tragedies(the cure being the new buttery, flaky, pie dough). Great imagery that I may have referred to earlier such as " It will be flaky and tender, buttery, delicious, crumbs as you bite into it," I can see my pie now (in my dreams of course). Even, some cool personification " It will be the easiest and most forgiving dough you've ever handled." so yeah, I couldn't say this for the other four blogs (at least not in depth) and, so i chose this one on rules of attraction. read the blogs for yourself you be the judge, but as for me "I RULE THE DOUGH!"
